Kim has practiced law in the employee benefits field for 30 years. Her areas of focus include traditional qualified pension and defined contribution plans, health and welfare plans , and executive deferred compensation plans. She has extensive experience in ERISA and tax compliance generally, including multiemployer pension and withdrawal liability, HIPAA / COBRA / ACA, life insurance and disability benefits, 409A, individual retirement accounts, and the unique issues facing not-for-profit tax- exempt organizations, governmental organizations, and churches and their integrated auxiliaries.
She provides practical and useful guidance for clients and colleagues using a pragmatic, direct, and solution-oriented approach. She helps to assess and mitigate operational and fiduciary risks, to review and correct compliance issues, and provides technical and strategic support on all aspects of Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and related benefit plan compliance issues.
Kim provides thought leadership and education assistance on fiduciary responsibility, taxation, and emerging legal issues and trends. She assists with compliance-related activities, such as governance, document drafting, government filings, operational compliance reviews, and merger and acquisition due diligence and benefit integration.
Prior to joining Parker Brown, Kim was with Washington Trust Wealth Management, where she oversaw tax operational and pension plan services. Before that, Kim spent 20 years at Partridge Snow & Hahn, where she created and led their Employee Benefit, Tax, and Regulatory Compliance practice groups.
Kim has been named a "Best Lawyer" in Compliance Law, Tax Law, and Governance Law, and was named Best Tax Attorney in Rhode Island. Kim has also demonstrated a deep commitment to community impact, serving as a Board member of Children’s Friend & Service for over 25 years, as a Founder of Intergenerational Housing Rhode Island, and has been recognized in Providence Business News’ initial class of “40 Under Forty” and in the 2024 class of “Leaders & Achievers”.
